Joe Lewis Instructional Series Begins Fall
2007 on NAPMA Innovations DVD
Mark Graden, NAPMA director of martial arts curriculum, announces that NAPMA and Joe Lewis are producing an exclusive NAPMA instructional series, “The Science of Sparring.” A total of six video segments will be included as a regular feature of the NAPMA Innovations DVD, starting fall 2007.
“As a long-time student and friend of Mr. Lewis, I consider this series a groundbreaking opportunity to provide NAPMA members and their students with powerful insights of what really works and what does not in the sparring portion of their martial arts class,” said Graden.
“Sparring can very often lead to dropouts, when students are thrown into freestyle interaction, with just techniques and no strategies to make them work. When students are taught the information in this series, they will have confidence that the techniques they learn can be effective in any situation, against any type of opponent.”
Known as “The Greatest Fighter in the History of Karate,” Joe Lewis has perfected the science and art of stand-up fighting. His universal strategies for different types of opponents will be invaluable in any school where sparring is taught. These instructional segments will answer NAPMA instructors’ most common questions: How do I deal with a taller opponent, or a faster opponent, or an opponent who is more aggressive? Not only will NAPMA instructors learn the strategies, but also they will learn drills to teach those strategies effectively in a way that will make the skills available to sparring students.
These strategies can also give your students a competitive edge. Whether it’s for Karate, Tae Kwon Do, Kickboxing or MMA, understanding these strategies will provide a major advantage.
“’The Science of Sparring’ will be a definitive and comprehensive study of how to deal with the many different fighting styles,” said Lewis. “Smart instructors need to understand how to teach attitude and approach, the two most important preparation steps for effective sparring skills. I plan to cover a wide selection in this exclusive series and introduce NAPMA members to dozens of ringtested sparring drills that will show them exactly how to exercise these new (many unknown) tactics.”
“The Science of Sparring,” with Joe Lewis is being produced exclusively for NAPMA members, which means you made a smart choice to be a NAPMA member and invest in your future. This is a great opportunity to introduce NAPMA to your friends because this is an instructional series that every martial arts instructor should have and, more importantly, one that all students should learn.
Remember, NAPMA generously rewards all referrals with a $50 cash bonus. |
